Thinking Skills - What makes a good discussion?

We've been looking at what makes a good discussion in class today. We used a technique call 'Diamond Ranking'. We had to discuss the suggestions for what makes a good discussion and then rank them in a diamond shape. We all had different diamonds but everyone was able to explain why they had ordered them in such a way. Here's our final diamonds.

Blitz - Propaganda Posters

We've been learning about the use of propaganda posters in World War 2. We discussed why they were used and what messages they sent. Following our discussions we made our own propaganda posters.

Friend or Foe - Comprehension

We got into the role of the main characters of the story, we had to empathise with them and reinacted one the main scenes. This is the scene where David and Tucky, who are evacuees, are the last two children left in the village hall. Regan is playing the part of Tucky, and Harvey is plying the part of David. The rest of the class are pretending to be the adults whispering about them.

Historical Stories Middle parts

It's that time of the week again! In Big Writing this week they are writing their first draft of the middle part of their historical stories.

The children are all working on their pencil targets. They generated the success criteria for the writing yesterday in the planning session.

Blitz Newspaper Articles

We've started planning newspaper articles reporting on the Blitz in London, here are some of our plans.

We'll upload our final articles later on in the week.

Thinking Skills

Awesome oracy in Class 6 on Wednesday. The children had to rank learning dispositions and justify why they'd ranked it in that way. Some challenging questions posed to each other. Challenge is good Class 6. Well done, it was great to listen to your ideas. Quote of the day, "You don't need to be enthusiastic, I don't like doing work, but I like to get the job done!" Kelly-Ann, September 2014.

The job

Badger Maths - Which level did they all choose?

Every child in the class answered all three problems! AND they wrote their own extensions to the problem! Awesome problem solving Class 6!

Badger Maths Problem Solving

Which one will they choose? Hard, medium or easy? Or even all three?

Big Up-levelling, Class 6 Style!
