Getting creative in the nature reserve

M

This week the children spent lots of time learning in the nature reserve. They sculptured using bits of wood, stone and found materials, searched for mini beasts and spent time bird spotting with the expert help of our very own Mrs Smith who fascinated the children with her knowledge of birds and wild life.

We also finished our whole class collage in the style of Andy Goldsworthy-see below WOW it's good!
We ended the week with a swim. It's good to see the children taking the plunge and becoming more confident each week.
So it's time to say have a fantastic half term holiday and don't forget your woodland animal presentations for the first week back.

'Wild Wood' has started

Today we made the most of the dry weather and tried some team challenges on the trim trail. The challenge was to get your team and a beaker of water to the end without spilling any water. The children worked really well in their teams and only got a little damp!

Wild Wood

We are about to start an exciting new topic called Wild Wood. We will be investigating the wild life in our nature reserve, finding out about different habitats and looking at the work of Andy Goldsworthy as inspiration for some 3D art work.We are also going to build a mini beast hotel out of recycled wood and plant pots so if you have anything that may help our learning or building in this topic please send them in.
We are looking forward this one and hope to spend quite a bit of time learning outside so when the predicted heat wave arrives please can you ensure you child is wearing sun screen!
